Terms and Conditions
This agreement sets out the terms and conditions that will govern the relationship between you, the student and/or parent of the student, and Leanne Sawyer T/A Kobika Dance therein after called “Kobika”. It is a legally binding agreement and will be construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
Your Dance/Cheer Session
- Classes run weekly in term-time. Students may, on occasions, be expected to attend extra rehearsals/performances.
- The dates and times of classes are published prior to the start of term.
- Classes are subject to alteration due to unforeseen circumstances and students will be informed of such alterations in advance wherever possible.
- Classes will resume online via Zoom if the class is unable to go ahead in person. There will be no refund for these classes. This includes but is not limited to: extreme weather conditions, snow, lockdown, Covid-19 or other widespread illness, emergencies.
- These terms and conditions also apply to any workshops, performance or events that the student takes part in with Kobika. An additional fee will apply to these additional activities.
- Each individual within a class is part of a group and as such it greatly helps our work if all students arrive on time and attend all classes arranged
- Kobika should be notified in advance if you/your child is not attending a class so that we may plan accordingly and keep our records up to date. No refunds will be made for missed classes.
- It is your responsibility to inform us via email to info@kobikadance.co.uk if:
- You/your child has any medical conditions and/or allergies, special needs or learning disabilities which could affect them during class.
- You/your child has any injuries which could affect them during class. Agreeing to attend a class is a declaration of your fitness.
- Of any changes to you/your child’s circumstances e.g., address, contact details, medical conditions etc.
- Kobika reserves the right to change teachers at short notice as and when necessary.
- Kobika reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient demand. In this case a full refund will be given.
- Some dance forms may require physical contact when demonstrating /correcting a student and I hereby consent to physical correction.
- Kobika’s duty of care for a student is during stated class times only and then only to negligence. This is on the condition that they adhere to the rules of behaviour and conduct given by the teacher. Supervision outside of class/performance times is not the responsibility of Kobika.
- We expect that parents/guardians to be punctual on collecting students at the end of their class.
- We expect that students aged 12+ attending classes will leave the class unaccompanied, no longer becoming the responsibility of the teacher in charge, unless we are notified otherwise.
- No fizzy drinks are permitted during classes, performances, competitions or workshops.
- All valuables will be the responsibility of the student. Kobika will not be liable for any loss or damage.

Cheerleading and what it involves
- Participating in the sport of cheerleading involves a certain amount of risk. It is a hands on, contact sport which includes lifts, stunts and the catching of team members Cheerleading is a positive, team building and confidence building sport. Cheerleaders have the ability to become incredibly athletic excelling in fitness, strength, stamina and flexibility. But bumps and scrapes do sometimes occur, and parents/guardians should be aware of the risks and what is expected from themselves/their child:
- All cheerleaders will be required to develop their all-round fitness in strength, flexibility and stamina in order to achieve and progress and this will be included in their cheer training. Cheerleaders will be taught to understand the body and the various training method.
- All stunts and tumbles will be taught by a trained, qualified and insured coach in step-by-step progressions.
- Cheerleaders must not wear any jewellery.
- Kobika uniform is compulsory for Starlites otherwise, sensible, snug fitting sports clothing and clean (indoor) trainers must be worn. Hair must be tied back with no other accessories, clips, Alice bands etc.
- Nails must be kept short
- Cheerleaders should bring plenty of refreshments to each session such as water/juice.
- The head coach must be informed of all health issues and injuries before taking part in a session and regularly updated if there are any changes in conditions.
- If an accident or injury occurs during training/competition or performance the head coach must be informed immediately, and an incident report form completed. Any visits to hospital or GP as a result of a cheerleading injury must be reported to the coach.
- It is each Cheerleaders responsibility to ensure that they adhere to the advice given by their coaches.
- Insurance is compulsory for all cheerleaders.
- Every effort is made to reduce the risk of injury with controlled coaching practice, mutual respect between coach and cheerleader and an understanding that cheerleaders will adhere to the rules and advice given by their coach.
Instructions for the Online classes:
Please download the app ‘Zoom- Cloud Meetings’ to participate. This is a very easy app to use and can be downloaded on phones, iPad and computers for free. For safeguarding purposes, we ask that this link is not shared. We ask that you log in 5 minutes before the session starting so that teachers can begin on time and a register can be taken. I will also be available on the app chat to answer any technical questions.
Using the app
- Please click the link 5 minutes before your session is due to start
- When you join the meeting, you will see various videos.
- Click on the video of your teacher to access and view the class
- Your microphone will be muted during class, please contact us via the chat option if you have any questions
Participation disclosure.
- Actively clicking the link and joining sessions will be considered as consent for your/your child to participate in Kobika Online sessions. By clicking on the link and joining in with Kobika online class you do so at your own risk. We highly recommend that parents supervise their children during these sessions. You will be fully responsible for your own body, your child’s body and your home. If you have any pre-existing conditions or are feeling unwell in anyway (including tiredness) please do not participate in the class. Kobika Dance will not accept any liability for any injury, harm or damage caused during online sessions.
- Students to be dressed appropriately for exercise and appropriate footwear is worn if needed.
- Students to have space around them to dance
- Please ensure the floor surface is suitable.
- Students to have access to water throughout the classes.
- Please ensure the area in which students are partaking is safe and tidy to avoid any hazards
- No photography or videoing of the app is permitted.
Payment
- All fees are payable in advance or by payment due date. Payment requests will be issued by email to you/your child at the beginning of each term. Payment request emails will be assumed to have been received unless notified otherwise during the first week of each term.
- Any payment request emails sent out for unpaid fees after the payment due date will be subject to a £5 administration charge or you/your child will not be allowed to attend class.
- If the debt remains unpaid after 4 weeks, we may engage a debt collection agency to pursue you for the debt. You agree that you will be responsible for all costs of the debt collection agency.
- All current students are expected to pay for a full term. You are deemed to be a current student if you attended the previous term and will automatically be rebooked onto your class/s for the next term unless we are informed otherwise before the end of the current term.
- Kobika accepts new students throughout the term. Fees will be pro-rated from the first class attended.
- Fees must be paid by bank transfer with student’s full name as reference.
- Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
- All fees are payable termly in advance however, an option is available to pay monthly. If this option is taken the following terms apply:
- Regular monthly payments MUST be made, the first payment by the first session of the start of each term.
- If for any reason a student leaves during a term, full payment of the account is made at that time.
- Monthly plans are subject to a 5% administration charge and must be cleared by the end of each term.
- Kobika reserve the right to change booking and/or payment system at any time.
Behaviour
- All students are expected to conduct themselves sensibly during all classes/sessions, showing self-discipline and respect towards others at all times. Students who damage Kobika or any venue’s equipment or property through misuse or reckless behaviour will be held liable to any costs of repair or replacement. Kobika reserves the right to exclude students from lessons at its discretion.
- No mobile phones are to be used in class.
- When using social media all students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately and sensibly with polite etiquette. Students should ensure they uphold the reputation of Kobika. Inappropriate use of social media in association with Kobika may jeopardise your place at Kobika.
Uniform
- Uniform is compulsory if you take part in ballet classes (leotard and tights) and training uniform is compulsory for all Kobika Students in Cheerleading and Dance.
- No jewellery is to be worn.
- Costumes and/or props on loan or hired to a student must be returned to Kobika in the same condition.
Covid-19 Regulations
- Kobika Dance will adhere to all government guidelines released for Covid-19.
- Students & staff are asked not to attend classes if they have tested positive for Covid-19 until they have completed their isolation period as per the government guideline.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided at all Kobika sessions and good hygiene will be advised.
- Parents are asked not to enter the building or into classes to minimize contact.
Marketing
- On registration you agree to be added to our mailing list, where you will receive up to date information on workshops/events/classes taking place at Kobika.
Model Release
- When registering for classes you consent to give permission for images/video footage of yourself/your child to be taken during Kobika Dance classes, workshops, parties, demonstrations, events and shows, and for these images/video footage to be lawfully used for the advertising, marketing and promotion of Kobika Dance.
- Consent also includes the release of photographs/video footage for sale to parents as mementos of Kobika Dance workshops or the rehearsals/shows performed by students of Kobika Dance.
- The photographs/video footage may be used in Kobika Dance promotional material including, but not limited to, flyers, posters, newsletters, course leaflets, advertisements, promotional show reels, web site and press releases. They may also be used across any of our social media platforms (Kobika dance and starlites) including but not limited to, Instagram, facebook, tiktok, youtube, and X.
- You relinquish any right to edit/examine or approve the products or use to which any such image(s) is/are applied in the lawful promotion of Kobika Dance.
